In honor of Signing Day 2015, we’ve highlighted the top five seniors from our Hot 100 list and got their thoughts and perspectives about their college signing dreams finally coming true!
Hot 100 #1 Player Miranda Elish
Did you ever think this day—signing with your dream school—would come!
I personally felt like this day was never going to come! Committing so early was a blessing but it also meant spending three years watching all of your friends sign knowing your day was yet to come in three years, then two, then last year when it was one year away. I actually put a countdown in my phone! (laughs). Talk about anticipation at its finest!
Where will you be signing your Letter of Intent this week?
I will be signing at my high school on Thursday the 12th! When it comes to celebrating her signing, Miranda says: "The bigger, the better!"
Will it be a big occasion or more low-key?
I've invited people to come watch and spend that special moment with my family and me. The bigger the better! Will you do anything to celebrate the big day?
I invited—with my mom's permission—our family fends, some fiends from school, teammates, teachers and coaches to come join us in our home for a little signing "after-party."
What date did you actually commit and how long ago was it?
I committed on my Mom and Dad's 15th anniversary actually, which is September 21, 2012, just days before my 15th birthday!
What highlight stands out to you about the recruiting process?
The first "unofficial" visit I took to Oregon was after a camp. I had to go step onto the public sidewalk and then walk back on campus. I went into Coach White's office with my dad and we talked about my future as a Duck. We not only almost missed our flight, but my dad forgot his phone in Coach's office.
What was the “aha” moment when you knew the program was the right one for you?
When you have Coach White as a coach—who is a world renowned pitcher— and tour the facilities and know that Oregon was a National Championship contending program, that's when my "aha" moment came about. Honestly though, as soon as Coach showed interest in me, I knew that was where I wanted to play college softball.
What will signing with your dream school mean to you personally and to those who’ve been part of your success (family, coaches, teammates, etc.)?
It will mean that those hours each night spent in the basement working out in the basement, weeks spent away from home and the money that was spent by my parents flying me all over the country was worth it. Not only will I get a college degree from the University of Oregon, but I'll be able to wear Ducks proudly across my chest, contending for a National Championship.
How much gear/product do you have of your future school?
(Laughs) Enough for my friends at school to jokingly ask me if I'm going to Oregon! For example, one day at school I wore my Oregon shoes, shorts, shirt, jacket and, that's not all, I had my Oregon coffee cup and lanyard! Everybody knows when I'm at school because of the yellow “O” on the back on my jeep. Hopefully that can put into perspective how much stuff I have.
What’s next for you and your softball plans?
What's next for me is hopefully a state championship in high school. Followed by a few PAC 12 rings as well as National Championship ones. I also would love to represent USA on the Junior National team and also in the 2020 Olympics and win a gold medal. For more Recruiting Information for the Players

Did you ever think this day—signing with your dream school—would come!
I first found out what an athletic scholarship was from my dad, who was coaching high school track and football, before I was in kindergarten. Since then, it has always been my main goal to have an athletic scholarship. It's extremely exciting to know that I am officially accomplishing my goal of obtaining that scholarship this week!
Where will you be signing your Letter of Intent this week?
Since it is a holiday (Veteran's Day), I do not have school on the first signing day (Wednesday), so I will be signing my actual NLI at home with my family and sending it in right away that morning, and then I am having a signing party at my school the next day to share with all of my friends and extended family!
Will it be a big occasion or more low-key?
It's going to be both!
Will you do anything to celebrate the big day?
The event at my school will be a big celebration.
What date did you actually commit and where were you when you made it official?
I committed October 29, 2012, on campus while I was on an unofficial visit. That was three years ago!
What highlight stands out to you about the recruiting process?
The fact that I was even in the recruiting process is crazy to me! But, what really stands out to me about the process is the fact that recruitment does not stop after you commit. It seems to just be starting in a way that you have to work even harder after, in order to keep your scholarship offer, and to try to earn a spot in that starting lineup when you finally do get there as a freshman.
What did you know UCLA was the right choice for you?
I remember vividly walking around the school on my first tour and seeing all the student athletes that acted as a big family, no matter what sport they were in. The vibe I got from just walking around the school felt like home.
What will signing with UCLA mean to you personally and to those who’ve been part of your success (family, coaches, teammates, etc.)?
Signing for an athletic scholarship has always been one of my lifelong goals. Everything I have been through and everyone that has contributed in my path has had a big part of getting me to this point and I'm very grateful and thankful.
How much Bruin gear/product do you have at this point?
Too many things to count! We can't seem to stay away from the store on campus whenever we visit and we always seem to leave with the BIG shopping bag.
What’s next for you and your softball plans?
I have my very last fall tournament for travel ball in a couple of weeks. It is a bittersweet feeling to know that, but then I have the tryout for the USA National Team shortly after. I'm very excited and nervous for that opportunity. It will be a great learning experience for me to be there with so many incredible players that I look up to & admire. And soon after that I will be starting my last season of high school ball. So it's safe to say that I really won't have much of an off-season, but that's OK because I love it!

How long ago was it that you committed?
I committed in October of my sophomore year, in 2013.
Did you ever think this day—signing with Alabama—would come!
I knew the day would eventually come, but it sure seemed like it took forever!
When will you actually put your signature on the Letter of Intent and make it official?
I am signing my NLI after school today.
Will there be a lot of attention when you sign or will it be more quiet?
It will be more low-key. I’m signing with three of my classmates (baseball, golf and volleyball). We will take turns signing our NLIs, and we’ll each have a table decorated with our college colors (and cookie cake!).
Doing anything else to celebrate the big occasion?
I hope we go out to dinner tonight!
What highlight stands out to you about the recruiting process?
I’m still amazed at how much “homework” the Alabama coaches did on me and my parents before they made an offer.
When exactly did it click that Alabama was where you wanted to go?
Seeing the program up close and personal at my first camp freshman year was a “Wow” experience, but I was really blown away on my unofficial visit my sophomore year. The coaches, staff and players made me feel like I was already a part of the family. And, it has only gotten better since then.
What does signing with Alabama mean to you personally and to those who’ve been part of your success (family, coaches, teammates, etc.)?
It’s kind of crazy when I think about next year—playing softball for Alabama—a team that I have watched on TV for years! Of course, I could not have done any of this alone. My family has sacrificed so much for me to play softball—traveling all over the country for tournaments, driving four hours round-trip for practice, and annual trips to Colorado for lessons with my hitting instructor. My high school and travel ball coaches have taught me so much about the game and life in general. I really have been blessed over the years with excellent coaches. My teammates have encouraged me every step of the way, too, and have kept me grounded, too. The only way I can repay everyone who played a part in my success so far is by continuing to work hard, on and off the field.
How much Tide apparel and gear would we find at your house?
I have a good bit. I love my houndstooth pajama pants!
What’s next for you and your softball plans?
My high school season starts in January and hopefully we can make it back to the state tournament.

Did you ever think this day—signing with your dream school—would come!
No! I have been dreaming about college since 7th grade, when I was too young to even understand what college was all about. Everyone kept telling me, “You need to start thinking about where you want to go.” All I knew is that I wanted to be the best pitcher I could be and play at a school far away. The journey to get here was non-traditional in the softball world. It was very long and involved many bends and turns but the adversity and challenges that I faced are what makes signing with Oregon so special. It was definitely worth the wait!
Where will you be signing your Letter of Intent this week?
I will be signing my NLI this Wednesday, Nov. 11, at my High School, Avon Grove High in West Grove, Pennsylvania.
Will it be a big occasion or more low-key?
It's a low-key event for the high school, not publicly advertised and done after school. But signing an NLI to play at Oregon is a huge occasion for me. I want everyone that has been a part of getting me to where I am to come to my signing. So I have invited family, friends, coaches, teammates, and people from as far back as Little League. It has been a journey, and I wouldn't be where I am today without all of them. I hope they can all come and be there with me on Wednesday.
Will you do anything to celebrate the big day?
We invited a lot of family and friends to the signing at the school and after we are having a party back at my house to celebrate.
What date did you actually commit?
I committed just eight weeks ago, on September 19, 2015.
What highlight stands out to you about the recruiting process?
Since I was able to go through the recruiting process as a senior I had the opportunity to do official visits at four different schools. Traveling all around the country, visiting with coaches, meeting players and watching football games was pretty exciting and something I will always remember. But the greatest moment of all was committing to Coach White during my visit to Oregon in September. We had just finished dinner on my last night of the visit. Coach K and Coach Spencer along with Jenna Lilley walked outside the restaurant where we were saying our goodbyes. Then my mom asked me when I would have a decision. I looked at Coach White and said, "I already decided where I want to go." Everyone was dead silent staring at me… then I yelled out "I want to be a Duck" and everyone starting jumping up and down yelling. It was the most exciting moment of all!
What was the “aha” moment when you knew the program was the right one for you?
Coach White came to my house for a home visit. He spent the whole day with me and my family. We got to learn a lot about each other and as he drove up my driveway that night I realized he was the coach for me!
What will signing with your dream school mean to you personally and to those who’ve been part of your success (family, coaches, teammates, etc.)?
Playing for Oregon is my dream come true. My goal was to play for a top team with the best pitching coach and I have all of that at Oregon. Being able to continue my softball career for four more years is exciting, but being able to do it at Oregon is exceptional. My family and Chaos Coaches have been so supportive in helping me achieve my dream, I would not be where I am today without all of them. My parents and coaches are so invested so signing on Wednesday is really a celebration of a great accomplishment by all of us. I asked my Chaos Coach, Joe Spina, what me signing meant to him. He said, "It means that I get to see a young lady who worked so hard reach her dream. And with Maggie it is even sweeter, because Maggie bet on herself and won (referring to the risk of de-committing and entering the recruiting process in her junior year)! When all of the outsiders—and some of the insiders—told her she was dumb for giving up what she had, she knew she would work hard and get to where she wanted! For future athletes I coach she will be the example to that. Maggie also proved if you work hard and believe in yourself you will make it.”
How much Oregon gear and product do you have already?
Since I only committed eight weeks ago I don't have as much as I would like!
What’s next for you and your softball plans?
I have lots of goals for my senior year: I want to continue to get bigger and stronger in the weight room this winter, I want to dominate in high school softball this spring, I want to represent Gatorade for Pennsylvania for the third time and I am looking forward to traveling around the country next summer with Chaos and competing against the top travel ball teams as I get ready to head off to college.

Did you ever think this day—signing with your dream school—would come?
Ever since I was a little girl, getting a scholarship to college was always the goal and I knew that signing to my dream school would come if I worked hard enough. To me, making it to Signing Day is such a big achievement all in itself. As I got older I got to watch all my older friends sign their NLI and couldn't wait for the day that I would get to sign mine so the fact that it's actually my turn to sign now is so surreal!

I'll be signing my actual NLI at home since today is Veteran's Day so there won't be school. There will also be a second signing at school next Thursday.
Will it be a big occasion or more low-key?
It will be both.Dejah fell in love with Arizona at a Wildcat camp.
Will you do anything to celebrate the big day?
Signing at school will be a big celebration because I'll get to sign with teammates, friends, and other athletes.
When did you commit to Arizona and what do you remember about that big moment?
I verballed my sophomore year on October 19, 2013 over the phone when I was out eating breakfast with my family.
What highlight stands out to you about the recruiting process?
The highlight that stands out to me about the recruiting process is getting to talk to college coaches and just getting the opportunity to be able to have gotten recruited. The initial goal is to get a scholarship, but once you commit the process isn't over because not only do you need to strive to keep the scholarship and better yourself, but you have to get ready for college and softball at the next level.
What was the “aha” moment when you knew Arizona was the right school for you?
I went to Arizona for a camp when I was a sophomore and as soon as I stepped on the field I felt at home. The whole atmosphere at the school—from the softball program to the campus—just felt like a place that I wanted to be at.
What will signing with your dream school mean to you personally and to those who’ve been part of your success (family, coaches, teammates, etc.)?
Signing to U of A will mean everything to me, my family, and everyone who has helped contribute to make my game better and make me the player that I am today.
How much Wildcats’ gear or product do you have already?
I have a lot of Arizona gear! To me, enough is never enough because I'm always looking to expand my collection. I have everything from hoodies, sweats, socks, shirts, and even water bottles. The more, the merrier!
What’s next for you and your softball plans?
As of right now, I'm training with my high school and travel team in preparation to hopefully winning a CIF/Premier title. Everyday is just one step closer to college so I'm basically just getting ready for that next step of my life little by little while also trying to soak it all in considering that this is my senior year.
