Signing Day Spotlight: Dejah Mulipola
It’s Signing Day!

This is the first day that those in the Class of 2016 can sign their Letter of Intent and across the nation top seniors are inking their signatures on documents allowing them to play the sport they love at the next level.

One of those is our first spotlight of the day, the No. 5 player in the 2016 Hot 100, who is going to one of the most heralded programs in college history.

Like many, this talented catcher who attends Pacifica High in Garden Grove, California will sign today to make it official and then do a public signing next week to celebrate the great accomplishment.

Note: if you’re a senior and have a cool signing photo or video to send to us for possible publication, forward to: sarah.hoffman@flosports.tv.

Did you ever think this day—signing with your dream school—would come?
Ever since I was a little girl, getting a scholarship to college was always the goal and I knew that signing to my dream school would come if I worked hard enough. To me, making it to Signing Day is such a big achievement all in itself. As I got older I got to watch all my older friends sign their NLI and couldn't wait for the day that I would get to sign mine so the fact that it's actually my turn to sign now is so surreal!

Where will you be signing your Letter of Intent this week?
I'll be signing my actual NLI at home since today is Veteran's Day so there won't be school. There will also be a second signing at school next Thursday.

Will it be a big occasion or more low-key?
It will be both.

Dejah fell in love with Arizona at a Wildcat camp.
Will you do anything to celebrate the big day?
Signing at school will be a big celebration because I'll get to sign with teammates, friends, and other athletes.

When did you commit to Arizona and what do you remember about that big moment?
I verballed my sophomore year on October 19, 2013 over the phone when I was out eating breakfast with my family.

What highlight stands out to you about the recruiting process?
The highlight that stands out to me about the recruiting process is getting to talk to college coaches and just getting the opportunity to be able to have gotten recruited. The initial goal is to get a scholarship, but once you commit the process isn't over because not only do you need to strive to keep the scholarship and better yourself, but you have to get ready for college and softball at the next level.

What was the “aha” moment when you knew Arizona was the right school for you?
I went to Arizona for a camp when I was a sophomore and as soon as I stepped on the field I felt at home. The whole atmosphere at the school—from the softball program to the campus—just felt like a place that I wanted to be at.

What will signing with your dream school mean to you personally and to those who’ve been part of your success (family, coaches, teammates, etc.)?
Signing to U of A will mean everything to me, my family, and everyone who has helped contribute to make my game better and make me the player that I am today.

How much Wildcats’ gear or product do you have already?

I have a lot of Arizona gear! To me, enough is never enough because I'm always looking to expand my collection. I have everything from hoodies, sweats, socks, shirts, and even water bottles. The more, the merrier!

What’s next for you and your softball plans?
As of right now, I'm training with my high school and travel team in preparation to hopefully winning a CIF/Premier title. Everyday is just one step closer to college so I'm basically just getting ready for that next step of my life little by little while also trying to soak it all in considering that this is my senior year.
