Today we update the 2016 Hot 100 class – the top seniors who will be realizing their softball dreams in November when they sign with the university of their choice to play the sport they love at the next level.

We started with the 2014 class and proceeded with the 2015, ‘16, ‘17 and ’18 classes before updating the ’15 class and now the 2016 elite.  Our next Hot 100 is expected to be the 2019’s!

The “Next 100 In”

In this introduction to the second 2016 Hot 100 list, we spotlight the “Next 100 In,” the excellent players from around the country who are have been—and will continue to be—closely watched as we will update the lists in the future.
 
These players are right there as part of the discussion for 100 top prospects in the nation and several were in the initial Hot 100.

As we’ve said to players and parents before: if you’re on the cusp of making the Hot 100, keep working hard because we will watch you and consider you for inclusion in the next go round (and that DID happen with several seniors who made the revised 2015 Hot 100 list).

How Players are Chosen & Ranked

FloSoftball has a database of thousands of players we track but, obviously, we can’t see and scout every player. We lean heavily on input from club coaches and college scouts get their input and feedback.

We canvass the nation doing our own research – including evaluating prospects at the top tournaments and showcases we attend in person – and then get with dozens of the top coaches and scouts to start soliciting opinions to help us narrow the list down and ultimately rank the players.

Also coming out of this will be our “Top 25 College Recruiting Classes” which many universities refer to in their Signing Releases.

As we will freely admit, the process is basically taking a big list and filtering down to a consensus of top players, which is an inexact science and we acknowledge we will miss on some players; the beauty, however, of doing this is it’s an ongoing process and we continually strive to provide the best and most accurate info we can!

Finally, an important note: we do factor in injuries and how they impact a recruit’s progress and development. You will see that, even in the Top 25—even the Top 10—there will be movement based on this and how it stands right now. In time we hope the players regain their previous status and level of excellence and we will reward them accordingly.
