In advance of our launching the Hot 100 list for the 2016 class, we’re going to take a closer look at top sophomores from around the country who are under serious consideration to make the list.

Today we go to the Peach State to look at a power-hitter who’ll play in the SEC…

Name: JAIMIE HOOVER

Pos: catcher/third base

High School: Collins Hill (Suwanee, Ga.)

Club: Georgia Elite – Hoover

Notable: her club coach is her father, Australia Hoover

College: Jaimie verballed to Florida in January 2013 during her freshman year of high school. She had been sought after by several top schools in the nation after her strong showing at the ASA Nationals in Montgomery, Ala. where she hit five home runs during the tournament. After being pursued by top programs such as Alabama, Georgia and Washington, Jaimie committed to the Gators after she “fell in love with the coaching staff at Florida, particularly after getting to know coach Walton,” according to her father.

Why she’s Hot 100 material:

  • key member of 2013 GHSA Class 6A State Championship team, the Collins Hill Eagles, ranked by Max Preps as the No. 1 team in the country
  • 2013 GA Coaches Association All-State Team
  • currently 2nd on Collins Hill’s single season home run list (6); 2nd in RBI’s in a single season (38); 4th in career batting average (.397); and 2nd in career home runs (9) as only a sophomore.
  • Key Member of 2013 Georgia Elite Travel Team, ranked 6th in nation by Goldfastpitch.com at the 14U level
  • 9th place finish at PGF Nationals in 2012 and 2013
  • current 2014 season batting average of .380 while leading the team in RBIs (24) with five home runs (as of April 26)
  • finished 2013 season with a team leading .619 batting average, 8 homeruns and 47 RBI’s
  • selected to play in Triple Crown Fireworks All-Star game July 2014
