Down in Florida at the Diamond 9 Sun Classic a month ago, I was watching the Windermere Wildfire -- Stutsman team and Head Coach Steve Stutsman was raving about a young 2017 pitcher in the Wildfire organization by the name of Lauren Mathis.

Steve and several other coaches were commenting on how talented Lauren was, that she spins the ball well and took her 16U team to an ASA championship game. Also, that she had 21 K's in one semi-final game at Nationals.

I got to meet Lauren at the Surf City Early Thanksgiving Tournament on Nov. 22, 2014 as she was guesting for the Wichita Mustangs.

Here's a brief interview with Lauren who talks about her commitment to Florida and how the Gators found her as well as what she throws that's made her so effective… enough to be SEC-bound.

She also gives her advice on how younger players can get seen and recruited and what her No. 1 Christmas request is!
