Today, we begin our look at the top 100 players in the 2017 class… we’re spotlighting 10 each day as we count down from 100 to No. 1. These current sophomores were chosen based on input and feedback from college and club coaches who’ve seen them play all across the nation.

Criteria for choosing and ranking the players including performances at the club and high school levels and projecting how they will play at the collegiate level.

Today we feature players No. 100 to 91 with standout players from Alabama, California (2), Florida, Georgia (2), Kansas (2), New Jersey and Texas.

Amber is a 5-foot-10 long and lanky pitcher who has an excellent screwball and change complemented by a good curve. She throws in the low to mid 60's, consistently hitting 61 mph, and is working out with former UCLA All-American and Olympic Gold Medal winner Amanda Freed. Amber will be the No. 1 pitcher at her high school filling the hole left by the graduation of Tera Blanco, a freshman at Michigan.

Maura is a very good receiver with a plus arm including a 1.7 to 1.8 pop time. As a freshman she played in 23 games and didn't allow an error. Offensively, Maura drives the ball to all fields with power and is a streaky hitter who can get on a roll. She was impressive at the 2014 West Coast National Elite Camp run by OnDeck Softball and is receiving interest from schools in the ACC, Big 12 and Big Ten.

Emily has emerged as one of the top pitchers in the Southeast with a dominating riseball that helped her compile a 15-2 record over the summer in club play. She has all the pitches and mixes it up well and with her mother, Amy, being 6-feet tall, Emily still has room to grow. She was the Georgia Region 4 GA Pitcher of the Year in 2014 going 18-5 with a 0.69 ERA and as a freshman she led her team to the 6A title game. She's also pitched no-hitters in state playoff games each of the last two years.

Victoria is a 6-foot pitcher who throws in the mid to high 60's with a good drop curve, screwball and change. A skilled basketball player too, she has all the physical tools and a ceiling that is extremely high. With experience and maturity, her competitive fire and potential could move her to the top of her class eventually. Victoria was launched nationally at the 2013 West Coast National Elite Camp and at the Sun Classic Combine in December, 2013 got attention from schools all over the country including the Gamecocks.

Kinsey is an athletic and strong middle infielder who's excellent defensively with a big-time arm. She has impressive pop with the bat and rises to the occasion, coming up clutch in big games including ASA National Championship games the last two years (16U in 2014, 14U in 2013). Daughter of club coach T.J. Goelz, she knows the game well and has a high softball IQ. Kinsey hit .346 at ASA Nationals and .429 at the Diamond 9 Sun Classic in Orlando this fall and shines in the classroom as well with a 4.2 GPA. She had national interest before choosing to stay close to home and commit to USF a year ago (Dec. 2013).

Gabby is tall and athletic and can play the infield and the outfield positions at an elite level. She's a five-tool player with a great arm, excellent speed and can hit for power and average. Gabby can also bat anywhere in the order with the skills to lead off or drive in runs in the 4-hole. She started playing with the Impact organization in 2012 and when her father was transferred to Houston she stayed with her Georgia program (he's a pilot, making the travel easier). The sophomore also has a 3.9 GPA and coaches rave about her off the field personality and character too.

Abby is a power-hitting catcher with a gun for an arm (1.75 pop time) and excels at throwing out runners from her knees. She's a clutch hitter who comes through in big situations and has been with the Bolts for four years, leading the team to top 10 finishes at PGF Nationals (2014, 2012) and ASA Nationals (2010). As a freshman in high school she hit .428 with 38 RBI and only struck out twice all season. Abby also carries a 4.1 GPA.

Abby is a polished middle infielder who can do pretty much everything well. She hit .393 as a freshman with a .464 on-base percentage on a team that struggled in a very competitive area of Southern California. Abby is smooth and fluid in the infield and can also play the outfield spots. An outstanding hitter who bats for average she has good instincts, is softball savvy and has learned good fundamentals and mechanics. Not always flashy, Abby is the dependable type who does the small things right.

Talli is a slapper with some of best hands in her class. She's been recruited since her eighth grade year and has a lot of options because of her versatility and skills at the plate and on defense. Talli is the type who, the more you watch her, the more you see the subtle strengths to her game. She was a Kansas 5A 2nd Team All-State honoree as a freshman in 2014 due to her speed and bat control allowing her to get on through slap hits or drives to the outfield.

Abby is an uncommon athlete, she's over 6-foot tall and is extremely agile and versatile. She shines behind the plate where she has a tremendous arm and instincts and at first base she cleans up infielder's mistakes on a regular basis. Offensively, Abby is an intimidating force who is a great mistake pitch hitter. With her size, she has outstanding plate coverage, making her difficult to pitch to. The Texan is also a black belt in karate. As a freshman, she was named Texas Sports Writers Association Honorable Mention All-State after hitting .516 and homering once in every 10 at bats.
