A week ago today–Saturday, June 6—UCLA signee Rachel Garcia put on one of the most impressive playoff pitching performances in recent history as the Palmdale (Calif.) Highland senior struck out 24 batters in 12 innings against Torrance High in the CIF Southern Section Div. IV championship game.

Shockingly, she suffered a knee injury during warm-ups prior to the start of the 13^th inning in which Torrance scored the winning run to win the title 1-0.

Although Rachel’s summer was put in jeopardy—see our update on her injury status here—the USA Today All-American and Gatorade State Player of the Year was overpowering in her last high school game as she used her explosive riseball and backdoor curve to great success.
