Amanda Lorenz’s Blog: PGF Bracket Play begins
Amanda Lorenz has quite the long list of accolades for her high school and prep career. She was a two-time FloSoftball 1st Team All-American at Moorpark (Calif.) High and last year was a key component on the OC Batbusters-Haning/Stith club team that won the PGF 18U National Championship.
The 2015 outfielder has signed with the Univ. of Florida, but has one more week of club ball and is looking to help the Batbusters repeat as champions.
She’ll be blogging for us this week and sharing her thoughts as she and her team work towards closing out the summer with a bang!
Hi everyone!
Today was the first day of bracket play and we played the Marucci Patriots from Louisiana. Our team was very focused and excited for the first game of bracket play.
We started off strong and before we knew it we were up 10-0 in the second inning.
The Patriots did not give up and they kept chipping away at our lead.
Dejah Mulipola had a few key hits for us, including a 3-run bomb!
Fale Aviu made a diving catch in foul territory against the fence, which saved a run as well.
It was a long game. It ended up lasting about 2 hours and 15 minutes. The final score ended up being 15-5.
After the win, we went to get a quick lunch and get ready for opening ceremonies!
I live pretty far from Huntington Beach, so I went to my teammate’s house to get ready. After we all got ready, we headed to Starbucks, then went to Opening Ceremonies!
Usually opening ceremonies are pretty boring, but PGF always does a really good job of creating a fun environment for us!
We walked around and took some photo booth pictures, went by the Mizuno booth, took a Batbuster organization picture, and got to hear Jennie Finch and the inspiring Sue Enquist speak!
After a few dance contests, we headed out because it’s time to get some rest for the second round of bracket play tomorrow.
I’m really excited to get out there with my team and move one game closer to the championship.
