Oklahoma State Softball At Puerto Vallarta College Challenge: What To Know
Oklahoma State begins its pursuit of the national championship with its appearance in the 2025 Puerto Vallarta College Challenge.
One of the most consistent winners in college softball for the past half-decade, Oklahoma State embarks on 2025 seeking a breakthrough to its first national championship. The first step for the Cowgirls on that road takes them to the west coast of Mexico, where they compete in the four-team Puerto Vallarta College Challenge round-robin tournament.

Oklahoma State reached its fifth consecutive Women’s College World Series in 2024 to cap its eighth straight NCAA Tournament since the arrival of coach Kenny Gajewski in 2016. Last season’s 49 wins were the program’s most since legendary Sandy Fischer’s 1988 team went 51-9.
Several key contributors from the 2024 Cowgirls roster return to set the foundation for Oklahoma State’s 2025 national championship pursuit. Opening the season against a strong PVCC field that includes fellow WCWS contender Florida State, reigning Big Sky Conference champion Northern Colorado, and Conference USA championship front-runner Louisiana Tech helps set the bar for this group of Cowgirls.

OSU Softball Names to Know
Kyra Aycock
The most experienced of Oklahoma State’s returning pitchers, Kyra Aycock made 15 starts in 2024 with 20 total appearances and 75 ⅓ innings worked. She trimmed her opponent's batting average from .264 in her 2023 freshman campaign to .250.
Aycock has produced an ERA of 3.00 in her two seasons with the Cowgirls, struck out 112, and gone 16-5 overall. She’ll get an opportunity to shine as Oklahoma State’s veteran returner in 2025.
Rosie Davis
In her Freshman All-American 2024 campaign, Rosie Davis earned praise as “100 percent fearless,” according to an article in The Oklahoman. Davis certainly showed no fear of college pitchers in her debut campaign, batting .333 with a .974 OPS, 33 RBI, and eight home runs.
Davis exuded similar confidence on defense, recording a team-leading 123 assists with six double plays turned in her role at shortstop. As a sophomore in 2025, Davis graduates from a breakout first-timer to a proven pillar of the Cowgirls’ title aspirations both in the field and at the plate.
Karli Godwin
The biggest returning bat in the Oklahoma State lineup belongs to first base Karli Godwin. Godwin’s outstanding freshman campaign included 15 home runs out of her 64 total hits – both tops among all Oklahoma State returners – and a team-leading 51 RBI.
Four of those RBI came against rival Oklahoma.

Lexi McDonald
Outfielder Lexi McDonald is one of Oklahoma State’s top returning hitters, coming off of 2024 in which she broke out for a .349 batting average (tops among returning Cowgirls) and .455 on-base percentage (best among all 2024 OSU batters with at least 80 at-bats).
After her emergence a season ago, McDonald now assumes the role of a proven leader. Expect big things from the junior, beginning with her appearance at the PVCC.
Ruby Meylan
Washington transfer Ruby Meylan was integral to the Huskies' 2023 WCWS run, posting a 17-6 record and 1.99 ERA with a whopping 204 strikeouts. Her stellar season earned Meylan Freshman All-American honors.
As a sophomore, Meylan’s record dipped to 9.9, but she was still solid in her 123 ⅔ innings of work for UW with a 2.55 ERA and 139 strikeouts. She joins an Oklahoma State roster revamping its pitching staff and brings invaluable experience as an ace for a championship contender.
Oklahoma State PVCC Opponents
Florida State
2023 WCWS runner-up Florida State and Hall of Fame caliber coach Lonni Alameda take on Oklahoma State in a pair of matchups to open and close the 2025 PVCC.
The Seminoles embark on the new campaign looking for their fourth-ever national championship and second since 2018 with an outstanding lineup featuring both returning stars like Jaysoni Beachum and welcoming impressive newcomers including Julia Apsel.
Louisiana Tech
Building around reigning 1st Team Conference USA honoree Alexis Gilio, Louisiana Tech has a lineup built for NCAA Tournament contention in 2025. The Lady Techsters look to make noise nationally well before the postseason, though, beginning with their matchups against WCWS-hopeful Oklahoma State at the PVCC.
Northern Colorado
The Bears reached the 2024 NCAA Tournament as champions of the Big Sky Conference, and figure to again be the league’s banner-carrier in 2025.
Big Sky Player of the Year Amailee Morales leads a veteran contingent that also includes All-Big Sky honorees Nya Chacon, Sabrina Javorsky, and Ella Gonzales.
