WEEKLY HONORS

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Cori Jones, Towson

Junior | Infield | Morrisville, Pennsylvania / Conwell-Egan Catholic

Jones batted .600 (6-for-10) and posted a .733 on-base percentage, reaching safely in all four games during a perfect week for Towson. 

The junior infielder tallied eight RBIs and scored four runs, while drawing four walks and leading the Tigers to a 4-0 week. 

On Tuesday, she went 2-for-2 with a walk and double, driving in four runs and scoring twice in a win over UMBC. 

Over Towson’s weekend sweep of North Carolina A&T, Jones had a .700 on-base percentage, batting .500 (4-for-8) with three walks, two doubles, four RBIs and four runs scored. 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Emily Winburn, Delaware 

Senior | Fort Lauderdale, Florida / Chaminade Madonna   

Winburn went 2-0 in the circle, throwing 12 innings without allowing a run, and tallied eight punchouts. 

The senior right-hander opened the weekend series against Drexel with five shutout innings, scattering three hits and picking up five strikeouts in an 8-0 win. 

Winburn was back in the circle for the rubber match, securing Delaware’s fourth straight CAA series win with a complete game shutout. She allowed just three base runners, including two hits, and had three strikeouts, limiting the opposition to a .080 batting average.

CO-ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Alanna Morse, Hofstra 

Freshman | Third Base | North Bellmore, New York / Mepham

Morse helped Hofstra to a 4-0 week, including a CAA series sweep, batting .333 (4-for-12) with a team-high four runs scored and three RBIs. 

All four hits came in league play, including three for extra bases, as Morse hit .400 in the weekend series against Hampton. 

The freshman third baseman opened the series going 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored in an 8-2 win. 

In the series finale, Morse was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI, helping the Pride clinch the series sweep with an 11-1 victory.   

CO-ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Kristin Toland, Towson

R-Freshman | Infield | Sparrows Point, Maryland / Eastern Tech

Toland batted .500 (6-for-12) with three runs scored and one RBI, helping Towson to a 4-0 week and CAA series sweep. 

The freshman infielder hit safely in three games, including two multi-hit efforts. 

She opened the week by going 2-for-4 in a win over UMBC, scoring two runs. 

In Game 2 of the series versus North Carolina A&T, Toland had the best performance of her season. She went 3-for-4 at the plate with a solo home run, one RBI and one run scored.

CONFERENCE NOTES

RUBBER MEETS THE ROAD

• Two marquee matchups highlight the weekend in CAA Softball, as four of the top five teams in the conference standings do battle. 

In Newark, two of the hottest teams in the league face off, with first-place Delaware hosting third-place Towson. 

In addition, on Long Island, second-place Elon visits fifth-place Hofstra. 

Both series will have big postseason implications. 

THE HENS STAY HOT

• Delaware has won four straight conference series, including three sweeps. 

The Blue Hens are 9-1 in their past 10 games and 11-1 in their past 12 conference contests. 

During the Blue Hens’ hot streak, Delaware has seven shutouts in league play and has outscored opponents 46-10. 

The Blue Hens are 12-3 in CAA play and sitting in first place in the conference standings. 

THE TIGERS ARE HEATING UP

• Towson has won three straight conference series and six consecutive games, moving into a tie for third in the CAA standings at 12-6. 

The Tigers are 8-2 in their past 10 games, scoring 6.9 runs per game during that span. 

Towson leads the CAA this season in team batting average (.293) and runs per game (5.1).

THE PHOENIX ALWAYS RISES

• Elon is the only team in CAA Softball that hasn’t dropped a conference series this season. 

The Phoenix have a +39 run differential in league play, which ranks second in the conference. 

Elon is 10-4 in league play and in second place in the CAA standings.

BREAK OUT THE BROOMS  

• Thirteen of the 27 three-game conference series this spring have resulted in sweeps. Even more impressive, six teams have earned a CAA series sweep. 

Charleston and Elon have one series sweep, Hofstra and Towson have two each, and Delaware and UNCW have swept three apiece.

TEAM NOTES

Charleston

• Karlee Hughes batted a team-best .400 (6-for-15), hitting safely in four games. 

Hughes had team highs with four RBIs and four runs scored throughout the week. 

The freshman infielder ended the week with a three-game hitting streak.

• Caroline Conner went 2-0 in the circle with a 2.58 ERA in a team-high 19 innings. 

Conner tallied 20 punchouts, including her first double-digit strikeout performance with a career-high 11 in the series opener against Monmouth. 

• Mia Dittoe hit .385 (5-for-14), recording two runs scored and one RBI. 

Dittoe hit safely in three games, including her third three-hit game this season in the series finale against Monmouth.

Delaware

• Emily Winburn went 2-0 in the circle, throwing 12 innings without allowing a run, and tallied eight punchouts. 

The senior right-hander fired her fourth complete-game shutout this spring. 

Winburn has allowed one earned run in her past six appearances, posting a 0.18 ERA during that span.

• Julz Garber led the Delaware lineup, hitting .538 with a team-high seven hits. The junior outfielder also had team highs with five RBIs and three runs scored. 

Garber hit safely in all four games, including three multi-hit efforts.

• Kiara Mills batted .364 (4-for-11) with three runs scored and two RBIs. 

Mills had two multi-hit efforts, marking her eighth and ninth games this spring with at least two hits.

Drexel

• Lana Mooney batted .444 (8-for-18) to lead the Drexel lineup, and she scored two runs. 

Mooney hit safely in all six games, including a three-hit effort against Villanova. 

The sophomore infielder is riding a seven-game hitting streak.

• Jessica Schable made three appearances in the circle, racking up a team-high 21 innings. 

Schable went 1-2 in her starts and posted a 3.00 ERA. 

The senior right-hander has gone the distance in her past six starts. 

• Ashley Errico also hit safely in all six games and recorded a .375 (6-for-16) batting average. 

The junior infielder added two runs scored and one RBI throughout the week.  

Elon 

• Carley Davis paced the Elon lineup, batting .333 (4-for-12) with a team-high five RBIs and two runs scored. 

Davis hit safely in three games, including her sixth multi-hit effort this spring. 

Additionally, Davis drove in at least one run in each game she had a hit.

• Megan Grant posted a team-best .556 on-base percentage. She reached safely in all five games, recording three hits and five walks. 

The senior had a team-high five runs scored. She has scored 12 runs over the past 10 games.

• Isley Duggins went 1-1 in the circle, posting a 0.62 ERA. The sophomore right-hander scattered four hits in 11.1 innings, limiting the opposition to a .105 batting average.  

Hampton 

• Nicol Ley batted .368 (7-for-19) to lead the Hampton lineup, recording a team-high seven hits. 

The junior infielder hit safely in all five games, including two multi-hit efforts. Ley added three RBIs and two runs scored. 

• Emily Kepple batted .333 (5-for-15) with two runs scored and one RBI. Kepple hit safely in four games with one multi-hit performance. 

She has hit safely in five of the past six games. 

• Janae Lyles recorded five hits and posted a .313 (5-for-16) batting average. 

Lyles had at least one hit in four games, adding two RBIs and one run scored. 

The fifth-year player has hit safely in 13 of her 17 games this spring. 

Hofstra 

• Meghan Giordano posted a team-best .615 on-base percentage, batting .500 (5-for-10) for the week. 

The graduate infielder added a team-high five RBIs and one run scored. 

Giordano hit safely in all four games and has at least one hit in 15 of the past 16, including seven in a row. 

• Annabella Pisapia went 3-0 in the circle, tossing a team-high 12.2 innings. The junior right-hander posted a 0.55 ERA with four strikeouts in one start and two relief appearances. 

• Chelsea Manto batted a team-best .538 (7-for-13) with seven hits, three runs scored and two RBIs. 

Manto hit safely in all three games, including two multi-hit efforts. 

She has at one base knock in 10 of the past 11 contests. 

Monmouth 

• Francesca Torraca batted a team-best .571 with eight hits in 14 plate appearances. 

Torraca hit safely in all four games, with two hits in each. In addition, she tallied four RBIs and three runs scored. 

• Kelly Toomey made three appearances in the circle, throwing a team-high 12.2 innings. The fifth-year slinger posted a 1.66 ERA with 13 strikeouts, despite going 0-1. 

• Abby Warner recorded a team highs with five RBIs and four runs scored, batting .333 (4-for-12)for the week. 

Warner hit safely in three games, driving in at least one run in each contest. She also drew three walks, posting a .500 on-base percentage.

North Carolina A&T

• Alyxx Estrada batted .467 (7-for-15) and posted a .529 on-base percentage. 

Estrada hit safely in all five games, recording a team-high seven hits, including two multi-hit efforts. The junior infielder also led A&T with three RBIs and added one run scored.  

• Jai Deese posted a .308 batting average (4-for-13), hitting safely in three games. 

The junior outfielder tallied two RBIs and two runs scored, adding one walk for a .357 on-base percentage.

• Sharla Kirkpatrick went 1-1 in the circle, throwing a team-high 14 innings. The junior recorded a 2.50 ERA across her three appearances. 

Kirkpatrick had her first complete game effort this season in the victory. 

UNCW

• Kara Hammock was 1-1 in the circle, throwing a team-high nine innings. 

The sophomore right-hander posted a 2.33 ERA and collected seven strikeouts in her two starts. 

Hammock has allowed two or fewer earned runs in her past 12 starts and leads the CAA in ERA (1.76).

• Janel Gamache had a team-best .333 on-base percentage over the weekend. 

The graduate utility player was 2-for-8 at the plate with a walk, recording two runs scored. 

Gamache has hit safely in six of the past seven games. 

• Tayler Vitola also recorded multiple hits over the weekend, going 2-for-10. She hit safely in the final two games this weekend and has at least one base knock in six of the past seven games.  

Stony Brook 

• Alicia Orosco recorded a team-high nine hits and batted .500 for the week. She scored a team-high six runs and had three RBIs. 

Orosco hit safely in all five games, including three multi-hit games, extending her hitting streak to seven in a row. 

• Alyssa Costello batted .412 (7-for-18), hitting safely in all five games. Costello tallied seven hits, four RBIs and two runs scored throughout the week. 

She had multiple hits in two outings and has at least one hit in six straight games. 

• Ashley Jacobson recorded a team-high six RBIs. Jacobson had five hits three went for extra bases, including two homers. The junior infielder added two runs scored and hit .273 for the week.

Towson 

• Cori Jones batted .600 (6-for-10) and posted a .733 on-base percentage, reaching safely in all four games. The junior infielder tallied eight RBIs and scored four runs while drawing four walks. 

Jones has at least one hit in 11 of the past 12 games.

• Mackenzie Lake batted .563 (9-for-16), recording a team-high nine hits. 

In addition, Lake recorded four RBIs and two runs scored. 

The junior shortstop hit safely in all four games, extending her hitting streak to eight straight. 

• Kristin Toland batted .500 (6-for-12) with three runs scored and one RBI. 

The freshman infielder hit safely in three games, including two multi-hit efforts. 

Toland only had one multi-hit performance this season entering the week.
