Meet 2019 Gator Commit Rylee Trlicek
Meet 2019 Gator Commit Rylee Trlicek
FloSoftball profiles Rylee Trlicek, a talented 2019 pitcher/infielder from Texas who has committed to the Univ. of Florida Gators.
The Class of 2019 is looking exceptionally strong and here at FloSoftball we’re gearing up to produce our Hot 100 list for the ‘19’s (we’re shooting to launch later this month!).
About a month ago one, top freshman Rylee Trlicek from Hallettsville, Texas pulled the trigger and committed to Head Coach Tim Walton and the Florida Gators. A member of the Texas Blaze White Prinzo 16U team, Rylee is a dominating lefty power pitcher and hitter who has the skills to also play the outfield or first base.
She had multiple offers from programs in the SEC, Big 12 and Pac 12 and caught recruiters’ eyes by throwing in the mid to high 60’s at several college camps.
Rylee also hit double-digit home runs last summer with the Texas Blaze 14U Futures team and helped the squad finish 5th at the Boulder IDT.
We caught up with the fantastic freshmen to learn more about her recruiting process and she began by saying, “This past fall and the entire recruiting process has been a quite eventful, but amazing, experience and is definitely one I will remember forever!”

How did Florida first find you?
Coach Walton had first watched me play this past summer at PGF Nationals in California.
How did you know they were recruiting you?
Coach Walton had reached out to my Blaze coaches after the PGF Nationals tournament.
When did the offer come in and how did you learn about it?
Upon hearing of Florida's interest, I scheduled an unofficial visit to tour the campus and facilities. It was at the end of this visit where Coach Walton extended me an offer to be a Gator.
When did you visit Gainesville and what did you think about the campus?
I had first visited the campus in September while there for my unofficial. This being my first visit of the fall, I had really gone with an open mind as it was my first SEC visit and the start of my many weekends in a row of visits and camps. Halfway through the visit I had a feeling that this was it, and I still had another day to spend touring the facilities. The campus felt like home, and seemed to have everything I was looking for academically and athletically.
What did they say they like about you?
Both pitching and hitting are equally important to me as a player. In travel ball I have always hit for myself and one of my goals as a collegiate player was to continue to contribute offensively as well as defensively. Coach Walton recruited me for both pitching and hitting as long as both continue to progress and ensured me that I would have the opportunity for both.
What are your strengths, would you say?
My three greatest strengths are my work ethic, competitiveness, and leadership. Not only are these my strengths, but are also the three areas I strive to improve on a daily basis both on and off the softball field. I have been working with my pitching and hitting coach, Amye SevcikI, twice a week for the past six years and she not only helps me with my mechanics, but also works with me on the mental part of the game and has played a huge part in my success thus far.
What do you throw pitch-wise and what is your "out" pitch?
I currently throw and continually work on a riseball, curveball, drop ball, screwball, off-speed curve, and change up. As I continue to develop as a pitcher I find that my "out" pitch also continuously changes, but as of now my drop seems to be my "out" pitch.
What's been your top softball experience?
I have had many great games, tournaments, and camps throughout my softball career and all of these experiences have helped me mature as a player and a young adult, but the turning event of my softball career was the entire last summer while playing with my Texas Blaze 14U Futures team. Early in the year we set a team goal to not only qualify for PGF but to show up in California and compete. To watch our team and coaching staff practice, train, and work towards this common goal showed me the true meaning of a "team" and how it can be bigger than the game itself!
Do you play other sports or just softball?
Yes, I currently play volleyball, basketball, and am a cheerleader for my high school, but I am still undecided if I'll run track.
What do you like to do off the field?
Our family is extremely active and we all share many of the same hobbies. Several Of our favorites are hunting, fishing, and wake boarding/wake surfing. I have recently taken up bow hunting with my brother and spend most of my weekends in the winter doing just that.
