We continue our look at the updated Hot 100 as we rank the top 100 players in the 2018 class… we're spotlighting 10 each day as we count down from 100 to No. 1.

We'll announce the Top 10 of the class on Friday, December 23, profile the No. 1 player on Saturday, December 24 and then on December 25--Christmas Day--we will reveal the "Next In (101-200)."

Finally, on Tuesday, December 27, FloSoftball will unveil our Top College Rankings for the '18 class.

Since we first released the 2018 Hot 100, there has been a lot of changes as players have emerged as nationally prominent recruits.  In fact, 43 of the players in this second version are new!

These junior standouts were chosen based on input and feedback from college and club coaches who've seen them play across the nation. Criteria for choosing and ranking the players including performances at the club and high school levels and projecting how they will play at the collegiate level.

Today we feature players No. 70 to 61 with standouts from Alabama, California (2), Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia.

***

70 - Kate Cressey SS… Jersey Intensity (Stanford)
nullKate can play all around the infield and her defense combined with her prolific stick make her one of the top hitters on the East Coast. She's a five-tool player who hits for average and power and her speed allows her to stretch shots in the gap into doubles and triples. Kate can go deep from line to line and stays on the swing plane a long time allowing her to get to pitches many batters can't. She had a lot of interest from high academic Big Ten and Ivy League schools before the Virginia junior committed to Stanford.

T-69 - Ali Kilponen P… TC Stars (Colorado State)
nullFew players in recent history have dominated their state like Ali has--she's won three Colorado state titles and was selected as the 4A Player of the Year. Her numbers were dominating this fall: 24 wins with a 0.47 ERA and 283 strikeouts in 149 innings. She also limited opponents to a .110 batting average because she has a great rise complemented by a screwball that's hard to square up on. Ali currently is in the 61-62 range, but she's expected to be in the mid 60's when she hits the college fields. Her movement on her pitches had Power 5 schools nationwide interested but she choose to stay close to home and play for the Rams.

T-69 - Tate Moseley OF… Birmingham Thunderbolts (Auburn)
nullTate is an excellent slapper who has impressive bat control and can place the ball well, but can swing for power too. Her speed allows her to get a lot of hits by just putting the ball into play. She's played varsity ball since the 8th grade and earned All-South Region honors despite missing some time with a rotator cuff impingement late in the year. She missed some time in the summer, but came back to hit .359 against elite national teams and this fall was back in form as she hit .463 with an on-base percentage of .542. The Alabama centerfielder was offered by Auburn in January of 2015 and committed shortly thereafter.

68 - Kelsey Bennett SS/C… Atlanta Vipers -- Vallery (Virginia Tech)
nullKelsey draws raves from coaches and scouts across the South who think she's one of the top defensive shortstops in the country. She makes amazing reads, has great game sense, takes excellent angles to the ball and has a cannon for an arm. Said one long-time college coach, "She makes impossible plays look routine." Kelsey also can catch. The Georgia junior had a great start to the fall high school season, but was hit by a pitch and fractured her arm. Her first game back was a Regional playoff game and she doubled and hit a walk-off home run to send her school, Buford, on to state where it won its 10th straight state title in a row. A fierce competitor, she will find a way to play early in the ACC.

67 - Frankie Hammoude 1B… All American Sports Academy (Oregon State)
nullFrankie has become one of the top power-hitters in her class and has hit some tape measure shots this year including one at the PGF Ultimate Showcase in Salinas, California that cleared the fence and went in the football stadium behind it. She's an imposing figure in the batter's box and has impressed this fall move up to the 18U AASA team that is a threat to win a national title. Frankie also plays stellar defense at first base, but it's her bat that is her ticket to the Pac-12. She was her conference MVP this year as she led her team to a championship by hitting .400 with 28 RBI, eight triples and five home runs.

66 - Gianna Carosone SS/UT… Lil Rebels -- RC (Michigan)
nullGianna drew a ton of national attention when she recorded a 96.38% Allister Index score at an OnDeck event, rating her in the top 100 percent of all players ever tested--reportedly #45 of the more than 15,000 athletes with scores. But it's not just superb athleticism that had colleges after her--Gianna has the softball skills and leadership to excel at the next level too. She hit .522 with 34 RBI and nine triples and five home runs to lead her Nevada high school to the Div. I state final and earn 1st Team All-State honors herself. She's a five-tool player who can pitch and even catch, but has the skills to be an elite infielder.

65 - Emma Clark OF… Firecrackers -- Rico (Notre Dame)
nullEmma is a game-changing leadoff hitter who's a triple threat in that she bunts, slaps and hits away with equal success. One coach said of her, "She's a beautiful combo of power and speed." Emma was a star on the Mater Dei High team out of Santa Ana, Calif. that won a CIF Southern Section Div. I title knocking off the then-No. 1 ranked team in the nation. In the championship game, she went 2-for-4 with an RBI and helped her team finish No. 8 in the final FloSoftball FAB 50 high school rankings. Scouts also like how Emma digs in and wants to beat you and has the skills to take what the defense gives to play the short and long games.

64 - Kelli Wagner SS/3B… Lady Lightning Gold (North Carolina State)
nullKelli is a true 4-spot hitter who can change the game with one swing.  She's a great competitor and is versatile with power at the plate along with the eye to hit for average.  Playing on a high school team that had a losing record, she still earned 1st Team 2A All-State honors in North Carolina by hitting .456 with a .511 on-base percentage and 35 RBI and 31 runs scored in only 26 games played. In the field, she is a vacuum cleaner at shortstop with a cannon for an arm to throw out even the fastest of runners. She had heavy ACC and SEC interest and decided to stay close to home and play for the Wolfpack.

63 - Odalys Cordova SS… East Cobb Bullets -- Schnute (Florida)
nullOdalys is a relative unknown nationally, but she's been a standout in Florida since her 7th grade year when, playing varsity, she led her high school team to a 2A state championship game and earned 1st Team All-State honors. Odalys is a smooth-fielding shortstop with one of the fastest ball-to-glove-to-hand transitions you'll see. She also has excellent range, impressive body control and quick first steps laterally in both directions. In 2015, Odalys played for Puerto Rico in the Jr. Women's World Championship and she's been a force in softball going back to her 6th grade year when she helped her club team win the USSSA ESPNHS 16A World Series.

62 - Kylie Coffelt P… Ohio Outlaws (Duke)
nullKylie has good softball DNA has her aunt, Rhonda Coffelt, was an All-American pitcher at Georgia. Kylie throws in the low 60's, but her strengths are her ability to change speeds and keep batters off balance with a curveball that breaks close to 10 inches and a change-up that is 20 mph slower than her fastball. Kylie broke several of her Ohio high school's records this year including an ERA of 0.51 to earn 1st Team All-State honors. Over the summer with the Outlaws she had 86 K's in 84.3 innings while compiling a 0.97 ERA and walking only 11 batters. Strong academically as well, Duke had long been a favorite since it was announced the ACC school would begin a softball program and in the fall Kylie received an offer and quickly committed.

61 - Lindsay Gilbert OF… DeMarini Aces (Baylor)
nullLindsay, who also goes by "Lou," is a fast triple-threat centerfielder with the 2.7 home-to-first speed to slap but also has power to stroke doubles and triples. She also is an excellent bunter and one coach said, "Lindsay's one of the best bunting kids around, she feels like it's a lost art." In the outfield she gets the ball in very quickly with a 60+ mph overhand throw. Explosive in her first step movements, a scout said of her, "She's explosive, like a halfback in football hitting an open gap." Playing against elite teams this fall, the junior hit .525 and also batted .615 for her high school to earn All-State accolades. Lindsay committed this fall as a junior and was patient in the process as she wanted to find the right fit and liked Baylor's fast-track medical program which was a perfect fit for her professional aspirations.
