Before the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) Championship Series gets underway today, former Louisiana State University (LSU) Tigers standout A.J. Andrews became the first female in Golden Glove Award history to be honored by Rawlings Sports. She received the award at a pre-Series banquet in Tuscaloosa.
Andrews spent four seasons at LSU in the outfield of Tiger Park, earning herself three All-SEC honors. Her ability to cover ground and make big plays not only made her a fan favorite but also garnered her main stream media attention who recognized her talents in the field.
During her LSU career, Andrews batted .321 and helped lead the Tigers to a pair of College World Series appearances. The team finished tied for 3rd overall in 2015. She finished her college career in the top five all-time in triples (20), walks (116) and stolen bases (97).

Since graduating in 2015, she's played for the Akron Racers. In her first season, she led the NPF with 15 stolen bases while also holding a perfect fielding percentage. The perfection in the field is why she joins DJ LeMahieu as the only other former LSU Tigers to receive Golden Glove honors.
LSU is the first school to claim a Golden Glove winner in both baseball and softball.

LSU Tigers head coach Beth Torina was on hand for the award ceremony. She helped develop Andrews into a star on the field.
"To be the first female recipient of the Rawlings Gold Glove award is a true honor, and I think she will be a great representative for what the award stands for and continue to be a role model for all of the young girls playing our sport."
