Louisville Slugger Hit Club: Mackenzie Boesel
For the second year in a row, 10 top batters from across the nation will enjoy a three-day experience of a lifetime as they participate in the Louisville Slugger Hit Club, which partnered with PGF and will take place in Huntington Beach, California.

FloSoftball is excited to be the media platform for all things Hit Club, and we'll have more details in the next few weeks, including the announcement of the players who will benefit from on-field and off-the-field activities.

Last year's inaugural class included Shay Knighten of the national champion Oklahoma Sooners and NCAA Division I Freshman of the Year Amanda Lorenz with the Florida Gators.

Who will be next year's standout freshman player who could win All-American honors or even win a national championship?

A CLOSER LOOK…

Best high school/club experience ever:
My best softball experience was this past high school season, because we had a lot of big wins and exciting games. It was a really special year in that we had everyone contributing to winning each game and had such a close bond that it propelled us far into the post season.

Why did you choose the Gamecocks?
When I went on my visit to South Carolina, I liked the feel of the campus and I wanted a big school environment in a big conference. I fell in love with the coaching staff and what they stood for and taught their players.

What key factors led into the decision?
I wanted to go to a school where I could make a difference and be able to grow as a player, and I felt like I could do that at South Carolina. The family environment they provide also helped my decision since I was going so far away from home.

What's the funniest thing you've seen happen on a softball field?
The funniest thing I've seen on a softball field was when a swarm of bees flew across the field and everyone on the field laid down.

Best movie you've seen in the last year or two?
"Zootopia"

What's playing in your earbuds right now?
"Church Bells," by Carrie Underwood

Best advice to young players/recruits:
Always work hard, stay humble, and learn from your mistakes.

Your philosophy or approach to life…
Don't let anyone outwork you.

Fill in the blank: you won't ever catch me__________________________
…. eating sushi!

What do you want to do after softball ends?
I would like to work in the sports field in some capacity.

What is your approach to hitting?
Before I step in the box, I tell myself a phrase that helps me focus in on having a good approach at the plate. I have pretty good plate discipline, which helps me be able to hit my pitch. My main focus when I am up to bat is putting a good swing on the ball and getting my job done to help the team.

What's something about you unique or unusual that most don't know?
I love Hallmark movies.

Do you have any superstitions or rituals around softball?
I wear my hair the same every game with the same headband and bow.

Other than family, who's a hero or someone you greatly look up to?
Mike Trout.

Finally, describe yourself in one word on and off the field:
Driven.
