Earlier today the final installment of the 2015 Hot 100 list was released as we revealed the top 10 players. Topping the list was Amanda Lorenz, an outfielder from Southern California who won a National Championship this summer with the OC Batbusters and is headed to the NCAA Div. I National Champion Florida Gators.

Amanda was also the top rated player in the original list published in January, 2014 and only enhanced her status this spring and summer. I asked her what it meant to her to be considered the top senior in the country and what it is that drives her.

Here are her thoughts…

***

Being named the top player in the senior class is a huge honor and I’m very thankful to those who thought I was deserving of this spot on the list.

I think this list is great for girls to get recognition for working so hard. However, I would take a national championship over being the best player in the country any day!

Every single girl on this list has worked extremely hard to get scholarships to the schools we are going to, but the hard work has just began. Still, I know all girls in the senior class will be very successful in their college careers.

I take softball very personally. When I get out or make a mistake, I don’t just let it go. I wish I did. When I get in a little slump, I seriously feel like I’m going insane. All I can think about that week is each at-bat when I got out.

My biggest weakness is my mental part of the game and I am working on letting failure go quickly because I know once I get to the collegiate level failure will occur much more often.

Failure drives me to work harder. I am extremely competitive and I think that has helped me in being named the top player.

Congrats to all girls who were named in the top 100! Good luck to everyone this season.

Til next time,

Amanda
